Jose Mourinho confirms Spurs are in the market for a striker

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho says they'll look to bring in a striker this month if possible.

Harry Kane is expected to be out until at least April after having surgery on a hamstring injury.

Republic of Ireland teenager Troy Parrott has not seen any game-time since Kane's injury and was not int the squad for Spurs' midweek win over Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.

Mourinho says they clearly need a certain type of forward to fill in for England captain:

"Lots of names, I think the majority are from players’ entourage looking to put their names into the market. Do we need a striker? Yes, but it has to be a positive move for us.

"We have attacking players that are very good. Son, Lucas, Lamela, Lo Celso, Dele Alli - of course they are very good, but we miss that target man.

"So if it's possible, we are doing everything possible and it's not easy but we are trying to add that player to the squad."

It’s not easy but we’re trying to add that type of player to the squad."

The Tottenham boss revealed that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is back in training but he won't be fit to return to the team until next month:

So the normal thing is February. If you ask me late February or early February, at this moment I go more for early.

"Things are going well. He’s getting his confidence back, he’s training so I would say he’s one of our new players in the January transfer window."
