Leeds complete signing of Illan Meslier from Lorient

Leeds have completed their second signing ahead of the club's return to the Premier League by making Illan Meslier's move permanent.

The goalkeeper makes the switch from French side Lorient and has signed a three-year contract with the Championship winners.

20-year-old Meslier made 11 appearances for Marcelo Bielsa's side this season.

“It’s unbelievable, we are in the Premier League and today I’ve signed for Leeds United permanently, so I am very happy," the French 'keeper told LUTV.

“It’s a dream come true because next season we are in the Premier League.

“My objective when I arrived was to stay here, Leeds is perfect, the supporters, club and stadium, along with the team is unbelievable, so I always wanted to stay.

“When I first came into the team it was difficult because we needed to win every game and we were playing for first place and of course this is a pressure.

“But after this, with my teammates, it is very easy to play with them and I’m happy for the moments we have had.

“For a goalkeeper I am young, but it is not a problem if you are at the required level, so it is okay.

“I hope to play a lot next season too, I always train at 100 per cent, I want to start next season and I hope we can play lots of big games here at Elland Road.”

Helder Costa’s loan was also turned into a permanent transfer, following their promotion.
