Cork City have signed goalkeeper Liam Bossin, but Shane Griffin and Tadhg Ryan are the latest players to leave Leeside in the close season.

This week had already seen midfielder Conor McCormack end his three-year stint with the club, following the likes of Dan Casey, Karl Sheppard, Graham Cummins and Garry Buckley out the Turner's Cross exit door.

Liam Kearney also left his position as first-team coach in recent weeks.

Ryan's place in the squad will instead go to former Nottingham Forest and Anderlecht goalkeeper, Bossin.

Griffin joined Cork just prior to the 2017 season, with the former Reading defender making 29 league appearances as the Leesiders won the double.

The 25-year old has signed instead for St. Patrick's Athletic.

Former Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Tadhg Ryan joined ahead of the 2019 season, and a series of fine late season appearances had prompted new boss Neale Fenn into hinting Ryan could be rewarded with a new contract.

"Tadhg will be moving on", Fenn said in a brief statement, "He did well when he came into the team last season, but he won’t be back for 2020. We would like to thank him for his contribution to the club and wish him well for the future."

Speaking of Griffin's departure, Fenn said, "Shane has obviously had a very successful time with the club and been a big part of the success that the club has had in recent years.

"Everyone at the club would like to thank him for the contribution he has made to Cork City FC and wish him the very best of luck for the future."

Republic of Ireland U21 goalkeeper Bossin arrives ahead of the 2020 season, with Fenn saying "it is brilliant for us to get a player of his calibre".

"He’s a player I would have known from the international scene and I would have kept an eye on him over the years", said Fenn, "I’ve spoken to people about him and made sure he will be a good fit for us, so I am very pleased to have him signed."

Bossin himself is looking forward to getting started, "I was waiting for an opportunity and my agent called me and said Cork City were looking for me, and I just wanted to get there and get signed.

"I have played in Turner’s Cross before with the Ireland Under 19s, so I already know the stadium and I am really looking forward to it.

"I feel my strengths are that I have quick feet, good distribution and I am a good shot-stopper.

"I will always give 100% for the club, I am a hard worker and I just want to help the club and get good results. I just want to show myself and work hard to earn my place."
