Mayo's Colm Boyle retires from inter-county football

Colm Boyle has called time on his inter-county career.

The four-time All-Star made 120 appearances for Mayo in a stint spanning 13 years.

He collected six Connacht medals and featured in five All-Ireland finals.

The Davitts club man was a key part of Mayo's half-back line for a decade - the foundation on which the county often built its team.

Boyle found opportunities harder to come by in recent years as James Horan turned to Mayo's younger players.

But he has continued to play a central role for his club side Davitts in the Mayo club championship.

Elsewhere, Tipperary footballer Brian Fox has also confirmed his departure from the inter-county scene.

The Eire Og Annacarty man made his senior debut in 2009 against Limerick.

He won a Munster SFC medal last year when Tipperary beat Cork to secure a historic success.

The 33-year-old's Tipp career dates back to 2006, when he represented the county at minor level.
