It was back to the training pitch for the Republic of Ireland squad today and the good news for Martin O’Neill is that he has no fresh injury concerns.

Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy and Shay Given were effectively all ruled out of the Gibraltar and Germany games. The uncapped Brian Lenihan trained with the squad for the first time after earning his first call up yesterday.

World Champions Germany have a few injury concerns with the news that Mesut Ozil is out for up to three months. The Arsenal midfielder suffered a partial knee ligament tear during the Gunner’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea at the weekend while Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle didn’t train with the squad this morning.

O’Neill was remaining tight lipped about his team selection for the Gibraltar game. Wigan’s James McClean and Ipswich’s Daryl Murphy will be hoping to get a look in.
