Sligo Rovers have a new manager following the appointment of Micky Adams as the club's new boss and Alan Rogers as his assistant and coach.

The new management team will take up their positions immediately and will prepare the team for Saturday's home game against Cork City at The Showgrounds. The appointments will be reviewed at the end of the season and the agreed priorities are preserving Sligo Rovers Premier Division status and continuing their involvement in the FAI Cup.

Micky Adams was involved with eight clubs during his 19 year playing career, this included 144 appearances for Southampton.  He has managed several leading clubs including Leicester City, Coventry City, Brighton and Hove Albion, Port Vale and Sheffield United.

Alan Rogers is also a former defender, he made over 130 appearances for Nottingham Forest and won three England under-21 Caps. The incoming management duo have made it clear that they see the challenge at Sligo Showgrounds as a test of their experience and ambitions.

After the most successful period in the club's history, this is proving a difficult season for Sligo Rovers and the boys will have their work cut out but we wish them the best of luck.
