Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Alexis Sanchez is part of his plans

Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has denied that Alexis Sanchez has been banished to the reserves and maintains the Chilean remains part of his plans.

The striker, who is the club's highest-paid player on £400,000 a week, has not played for the Red Devils since a match against Huddersfield Town at the end of last season.

He wasn't in the squad for the win over Chelsea last weekend. It has prompted speculation that he will be sold before the European transfer window shuts on September 2nd.

Solskjaer said:

"Well Alexis, we don't have the biggest forward line in numbers, so Alexis might end up playing a lot more games than you expect, because we expect him to come good at this club. Alexis is such a professional and he comes in, working every single day, really hard, and he wants to be part of this. Of course, it's these stories again that he's been put in the reserves and all this, of course he hasn't. He's part of our squad and he's a very good player. He's just had three weeks now, he's a few weeks behind the rest, but he's very close to being a part of it, yeah."

The Norwegian added that Sanchez would gradually be integrated into the first team.

Alexis Sanchez has only scored five goals in 45 appearances since joining from Arsenal in January 2018.

United take on Wolves at Molinuex on Monday.
