Phil Healy is into the 400-metre semi-finals of the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Poland.

The Cork woman won her heat on Friday morning in a time of 52.00, just one-hundredth of a second outside her personal best.

Healy was the fastest qualifier for the semi-finals and is due back on the track on Friday evening shortly after 6.30pm (Irish time).

There was disappointment for Sophie Becker and Sharlene Mawdsley in their heats of the 400.

Becker clocked a time of 53.31 to claim a third-place finish but only the top two advanced automatically and the time wasn't fast enough to qualify as one of the fastest losers.

Mawdsley finished fifth in her heat in 53.68.

Nadia Power was the only Irish athlete to qualify for the semi-finals of the 800 metres.

The Dubliner finished second in her heat in a time of 2:03.16 and will be back in action on Saturday evening.

There was disappointment for Irish indoor record holder Síofra Cléirigh Buttner, who came third in her heat and failed to advance.

Cléirigh Buttner was almost four seconds outside her national record time of 2:00.58 set last month.

Georgia Hartigan finished fourth in her heat and also missed out on a place in the semi-finals.

Full schedule here.
