Crystal Palace edged closer to Premier League survival with last Monday’s 3-0 win over Arsenal but the Eagles still have some work to do to stay up. It took a while for things to click under Sam Allardyce but Palace have won five of their last six games.
Allardyce has bounced back from the huge disappointment of losing the England job and it’s almost certain he’ll avoid relegation in the Premier League as he’s done throughout his career.
Two key components to Palace’s upturn in fortune are Mamadou Sakho and Luka Milivojevic. Both players were signed on transfer deadline day in January and they’ve made their mark. Allardyce did something similar at Sunderland last season when he brought in Lamine Kone and Jan Kirchhoff in January.
Palace are six points above the relegation zone but a win this weekend would move them ahead of Leicester which would suggest the Premier League champions are not 100% safe either. We did this game on Premier League Live last season which Leicester won 1-0 to close in on the league title.
Leicester suffered their first defeat under Craig Shakespeare last week at Everton and the Foxes followed that up with a 1-0 loss away to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. There’s no doubt Shakespeare will have one eye on the return leg of their quarter final tie against Atletico on Tuesday so that’s good news for Palace.
Ron Jones and Gary Breen will be in the commentary box for us at Selhurst Park.
