Claudio Ranieri has been speaking in Italy about his dismissal as manager of Leicester City. The Italian was sacked just nine months after leading the club to the Premier League title. The Foxes were never going to repeat their success of last season but they dropped into the relegation zone just two days after the club decided to part ways with the 65 year old. It created plenty of heated debate but since then Leicester have won four games in a row and have a Champions League quarter final to look forward to.

Ranieri has kept a low profile since he was sacked last month, the day after Leicester’s first-leg defeat to Sevilla in the Champions League last 16, a tie they turned around at the King Power Stadium.

He's quoted in Gazzetta dello Sport saying " thinking of Leicester, the first thing that comes to mind is the sense of surprise, even more than bitterness. "

" I have been through a lot in my long career, but never anything like this. It was a shock, but in the end these things are part of football."

Ranieri was speaking at a prison in Rome in a ceremony to honour regional football coaches in Italy. He also confirmed that he will talk about Leicester in more detail when he appears as a pundit on Sky Sports Monday Night Football on April 10.
