An All-Ireland Football team has been the topic of debate ever since the FAI split from the IFA in 1921.

George Best was said to be among those in favour of a unified Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland team.

It is unlikely to happen anytime soon, but the similarities between the two sides have reached an all time high.

They both play in green; are currently managed by an O’Neill, and now hold the same World Ranking.

Last month’s goalless draw with Wales and the friendly defeat to Iceland at the Aviva Stadium means Martin O'Neill’s men have dropped two places to 26th in the latest FIFA World Rankings.

Michael O’Neill’s team have moved up nine places to 26th after their recent World Cup qualifying win over Norway.

.

Wales are also down, they have dropped a single place to 13th

They are still ahead of England who remain in 14th place, while Scotland are 59th.

Brazil have overtaken Argentina to top the rankings for the first time in seven years.
