Rianna Jarrett to leave Brighton this summer

Republic of Ireland forward Rianna Jarrett is looking for a new club after being released by Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 25-year-old joined Albion from Wexford last year and scored two goals in 16 appearances this season. Jarrett is among nine players set to leave Brighton this summer but fellow Ireland international Megan Connolly has been offered a new contract.

"I'd like to thank everyone at Brighton for the opportunity first and foremost, but more importantly for being so welcoming and helpful," Jarrett wrote on instagram.

"It was a short stint, but filled with some great memories and important lessons learned. I feel I've grown as a player and more importantly as a person throughout my time at the club.

"I'd like to say a special thank you to all the players at Brighton, you guys are an amazing bunch and i wish you all the best going forward, both as individuals and as a club.

"I couldn't have asked for a better home away from home. I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for me and starting a new chapter."

Brighton head coach Hope Powell says it was a difficult decision to allow the players to leave.

"We have had to make some tough decisions and it's always a difficult time when players are released.

"I’d like to thank all the girls who are leaving for their tremendous efforts during their time with the club, especially in the last year when the pandemic has challenged everyone.

"They will always be welcome visitors to Brighton, and we will do all we can to assist them if they want to stay in the professional game."
