Michael Cheika admits Leinster took a risk in appointing him head coach in 2005, but it was one that paid off.

The Australian's 5 year stint at the Province saw them transformed from the 'Lady Boys' of Irish Rugby into a European Powerhouse.

Cheika’s move to Stade Francais proved less fruitful, but having led the Waratah's to a first ever Super Rugby title he was handed the task of sorting out the Wallabies a few weeks ago.

The 47 year old has kept in touch with many of those he worked with while at Leinster, but told Ross Lindsay he never though he would return to Ireland under these circumstances.
