Today FM is delighted to announce that it has retained the rights to broadcast live and exclusive radio commentaries of Premier League football games in the Republic of Ireland for the next three seasons, from August 2016 to May 2019.

The new deal will see Today FM begin a 19th season of Premier League coverage with exclusive rights to 3pm and 12.30pm matches on Saturdays and the all important first pick game on the last day of the season.

Today FM has provided live coverage of Premier League football since 1998.

Premier League Live’ which airs each Saturday afternoon on the national station and is presented by Philip Egan is the number one football radio show in Ireland, the number one sports show on radio for 20 – 44 year olds (JNLR Survey April 2016) and has been the recipient of the PPI Gold Award for Sports Programme on 3 occasions.

Premier League Live heavyweights and household names, including Mark Lawrenson, Brian Kerr and Keith Andrews and lead commentator Ron Jones will continue to bring the excitement and passion of the beautiful game to a national audience every week.

Commenting on the announcement, Today FM Sports Editor John Duggan said:

"Euro 2016 showed how popular football is in this country, and it’s going to be a fantastic Premier League season.

With Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp all trying to prise the title away from Leicester City, we are thrilled to remain the soundtrack to Saturday afternoons in Ireland by delivering quality coverage of the world’s greatest league to our loyal fans."

Premier League Director of Broadcasting, Paul Molnar, said:

“We are very pleased that Today FM will continue to broadcast radio commentary of the Premier League to fans across the Republic of Ireland.

“They are long term partners of the Premier League and have an excellent track record of making our competition available through audio commentary. We look forward to working with them for at least the next three seasons.”

Premier League Live returns to Today FM on Saturday, 13th August at 2pm.
