This thing called life takes people too young. You'd hope that everyone in life knows someone that leaves you feeling better about this crazy world than before you met them.

Death is one of those things that makes you question everything.

However in it's aftermath it also can leave you with an appreciation that you should #celebratethenow.

The last time Tony Keady was at the Today FM studio was for an appearance on Championship Sunday.

It wasn't long after the passing of the late great Tony Fenton and my own mother and meeting the Galwegian always lifted the spirits.

Anyone who was in Tony Keady's company surely left thinking 'I would love to have been in his gang in school'.

Great craic and above all a great sportsman with a great legacy.

The news everyone dreaded came from the Galway GAA County Board who confirmed that the former Hurler of the Year passed away at the age of 53.

Too young.

The former All Ireland winner had been in the intensive care unit of University Hospital Galway after becoming ill earlier this week.

Tony was in attendance at Croke Park on Sunday as Galway saw off Tipperary and Kilkenny to reach the senior and minor hurling finals and had appeared on Today FM's Championship Sunday in recent seasons ahead of Galways Croke Park appearances.

There was plenty of Tony's trademark banter.

Anyone in any walk of life or code would want Tony on their team.

The Killimordaly clubman, is survived by his wife Margaret and their four young children in Oranmore.

Ar Dheis De go raibh sé.
