The Munster-Ulster meeting may not have the box office pull of the a Munster-Leinster derby or the history surrounding the Ulster-Leinster fixture, but Pro 12 home semi final will be at stake when the two sides meet at Kingspan Stadium this weekend.

Munster last won the Pro 12 in 2011. They finished the regular season 13 points clear at the top of the table, before beating Leinster at home in the Grand Final. They rang in 2011 by beating Ulster 35-10 on New Year's Day. They secured a bonus point with this dramatic late try.

The sound of Northern supporters chanting  "Stand up for the Ulsterman" eerily rang around an empty Thomond Park, after Ulster's shock Heineken Cup quarter final victory at the Limerick citadel in 2012. Craig Gilroy scored a scintillating try to help his side to 22 -16 win. He beat Denis Hurley Felix Jones, Keith Earls and Simon Zebo on the way to touching down. Later that year Gilroy was back at Thomond Park scoring a hat trick of tries for Ireland against Fiji. A string of injuries means Gilroy has still earned just six Irish caps.
