West Ham take big hit on Sebastien Haller as striker signs for Ajax

West Ham striker Sebastien Haller is on the verge of completing a move to Ajax.

It's believed the Eredivisie giants have agreed a four-and-a-half year contract with the French striker.

Haller will cost Ajax €20million, 18-months after becoming the Hammers' record signing at an eye-watering €50million when they prised him away from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 26-year old failed to set the world on fire during his time in East London, but wasn't a complete bust - scoring 14 goals in 54 games.

Perhaps pick of those goals was an acrobatic effort against Crystal Palace in December 2020.

West Ham's financial hit becomes all the more stark when considering Ajax will be able to pay the €20million fee in instalments.

The Eredivisie leaders are in need of options up front at the moment.

David Neres, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Brian Brobbey and Lassina Traoré are all currently out injured.

Oddly, Traoré has been linked with a move to West Ham in recent days.

Haller previously worked with Ajax head coach Erik Ten Hag to great effect at Utrecht. During two seasons there he scored 51 goals in 98 appearances.

Another player set to leave the London Stadium is Robert Snodgrass.

West Brom are in advanced talks to take the 33-year old Scottish playmaker under Sam Allardyce's wing at The Hawthorns.
