Delorentos joined Ian in studio this morning to perform what may well be the finest song of the year, Petardu.

You might recognise the song from a TV ad for a well known Irish bank and it also features in new Richard Curtis film, About Time.

The title of the album, Petardu, was inspired by some graffiti that frontman Kieran McGuinness saw in Spain. At the time Kieran, who is adopted, was in the process of searching for his birth parents and the word ‘petardu’, which means fire cracker, resonated with him: “It fitted exactly what I was trying to say. It became the template of what I wrote the song about…I guess I was the little spark”.

Ian revealed that he’d done some research on the name too and that petardu also means fart. Kieran joked: “It’s funny because the rest of our songs are about farts but this one actually isn’t”.

The lads are working on album number 4 but have admitted there are no songs or names yet...
