Donal Skehan is in line to succeed James Martin as BBC’s Saturday Kitchen host. He has been asked to return to the show on June 11th.

The first replacement Michel Roux Jnr went down well, next up was Lorraine Pascalle who didn't fare so well but Donal had a fairly unanimous warm reaction. With a new book on the way too it seems his star is further on the ascent.

Lord of the Cinema

Michael Flatley has been announced as the executive producer of a new film The Rising 2 months after retiring from Irish dancing. He danced his last jig on stage in Las Vegas on Paddy’s Day. The 1916 movie was announced during the Cannes Film Fesitval and will star Jonathan Rhys Myers as Padriag Pearse and Shane McGowan is to write a song for the soundtrack. Liam Neeson’s son Michael will also star as Michael Collins, the role his father played in 1996.

The name's Bond, Jane Bond

Gillian Anderson has hinted that she would accept the role as the first female Bond, tweeting out a mocked-up poster of herself as 007.

The star of The Fall and The X-Files expressed her desire to take over from Daniel Craig as the world’s most famous secret agent, tweeting, alongside the poster: “It’s Bond, Jane Bond.”

She added: “(And sorry, don’t know who made poster but I love it!)”, with the hashtag #NextBond.

With reports that Daniel Craig has turned down the role in the next film and Tom Hiddleston playing down suggestions that he's next in line for the job maybe Gillian should keep her calendar free.
