Ian revealed on air this morning that he always thought the lyrics to “You Are The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me” were “You Are The Best Thing That Never Happened to Me”.

On learning he’d been singing the wrong lyrics for so long, Ian admitted: “I’ve got a hundred lines to do now, it’s like going back to school again”

We’ve all done it, let’s be honest.

Sometimes we just mishear the lyrics.

Sometimes we just prefer singing the wrong words.

Here are some favourite misinterpretations:

Credence Clearwater Revival, "Bad Moon Rising"

"There's a bathroom on the right": "There's a bad moon on the rise"

Guns N' Roses, "Paradise City"

"Take me down to a very nice city": "Take me down to the paradise city"

TLC, "Waterfalls"

"Don't go Jason waterfalls": "Don't go chasing waterfalls"

Macy Gray, "I Try"

"I blow bubbles when you are not here": "My world crumbles when you are not near"

Prince, "Raspberry Beret"

“She wore a raspberry parade”: “She wore a raspberry beret”

R.E.M., “Losing My Religion”

“Let’s pee in the corner, let’s pee in the spotlight”: “That’s me in the corner, that’s me in the spotlight”

The Beatles, “I Want To Hold Your Hand”

“I get high, I get high”: “I can’t hide, I can’t hide”

Queen, “Bohemian Rhapsody”

“Saving his life from this warm sausage tea”: “Spare him his life from this monstrosity”
