Join Phil as he takes to the Camino de Santiago again! This year, the Cawley Camino will follow in the footsteps of Irish medieval pilgrims as the team of walkers will tackle the Camino Ingles (the English Way) in September.

The Cawley Camino 2016 starts from the port city of Ferrol in the Northern coast of Galicia which would have been one of the main ports favoured by Irish pilgrims in the old days. Pilgrims from Ireland would set sail from harbours such as Dublin, Waterford or Dingle on their way to Ferrol, where they would then continue their Camino pilgrimage on foot to Santiago de Compostela.

Along the way, Pontedeume and Betanzos are two wonderful historic towns where pilgrims will be charmed by their cobbled lanes, quaint squares and fascinating architecture; as well as being treated to great local delicacies Galicia is well known for. On your way into Pontedeume, you will pass Cabanas beach, perfect for a refreshing dip. After Betanzos, it will be peaceful countryside and tiny hamlets, as the team walks across rural Galicia on their way to Santiago.

The Cawley Camino walkers will be spending an additional night in Santiago de Compostela after completing their walk to explore this fantastic city and its Old Town, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1985.

A donation to CRY Cardiac Risk in the Young will also be included as part of this year's Cawley Camino to help the work done by this fantastic charity.
