Born the seventh son to a seventh son in Arkansas, Glen Campbell strode to success in the mid-60's with his fusion on country and pop that broke the mould for generations of singers to come.
He sold over 45 million records throughout his career and at one point during the late 60's he outsold The Beatles.
A Facebook statement said "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and legendary singer and guitarist, Glen Travis Campbell, at the age of 81, following his long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease."
