Supporting brilliant Irish music...

Every Monday on Dermot and Dave, we select an Irish artist/band to be our Homegrown Hero of the week. It gives some lesser known talents the chance to shine and get the recognition they deserve.

This week it's the turn of Mullingar native Darren Flynn, who performs under the name 'Flynn'.

Flynn moved to Bristol a couple of years back, where he fell in love with 90's hip-hop and R'n'B. For three years, Flynn gigged and busked, even playing up to four open mic nights a year in order to fine tune his skill.

With his technique evolving, and his music getting noticed, he moved to London to better himself and push on to the next level.

It's there he teamed up with Diffusion Lab, who helped produce his already written song 'Red Light'.

"The song is about finding the courage to dive into life head on without any hesitations or second thoughts".

You're gonna really love this track, and Flynn's whole sound. It's very 'now' yet has flashes of future music trends, and with more material on the way for 2018, he's a name you will be hearing a lot more of.

We're looking forward to his gigs already.

'Red Light' is available to stream from this Friday (March 2nd), but you can listen to it here first:

You can catch our Homegrown Hero every day on Dermot & Dave from 9am.
