6 women and 5 men arrested in Limerick, Kerry, Tipperary

Gardaí have arrested 11 people as part of an investigation into the alleged sexual exploitation of children.

The 6 women and 5 men, who are all members of one extended family, were arrested in counties Limerick, Tipperary and Kerry today.

They range in age from their twenties to their seventies.

The inquiry is focussed on offences against children living in the Newcastle West area of Co Limerick.

Those arrested are being detained at Garda Stations in Limerick, Cork and Clare under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Today's operation involved officers from Newcastle West, Bruff, Henry Street, Mayorstone Park and Roxboro Road Garda stations, along with the Limerick Divisional Protective Services Unit.
