The Marie Keating Foundation has launched a new campaign

Almost a fifth of people believe lung cancer patients who smoke shouldn't be covered by health insurance.

According to research by the Marie Keating foundation, over a quarter of people believe non smokers should have their lung cancer treatment prioritised over smokers.

The research also found that people are presenting with lung cancer at later stages of the disease because they're worried their doctor will give out to them for smoking.

The charity has launched a new campaign to mark International Lung Cancer Week to challenge the stigma and stereotypes around lung cancer and increase awareness of early detection.

The 'I Am Lung Cancer' campaign aims to humanise the disease by showcasing the range of people it affects.
