The Data Protection Commissioner is planning an investigation

There are calls for a new Minister for Technology after an alleged data breach at Independent News and Media.

The Data Protection Commissioner is planning to investigate if data from 19 past and present staff was removed from the firm's offices in 2014.

But James Lawless of the Oireachtas Communications Committee says one person needs to take personal responsibility: 'We've so many multinationals here in Ireland, they're very exposed and concerned about their Data. I think we need a cabinet minister with clear responsibilities to cover technology, the digital space and all the online implications.
