The army has been mobilised after flooding in Co Laois.
Dozens of soliders are about to arrive in Mountmellick to help with the clean up operation, while fire and rescue crews from Offaly, Westmeath and Longford have been called in to help.
Heavy rain and three overflowing rivers forced dozens families to flee their homes last night.
The ares is experiencing 'unprecedented flooding' after three local rivers burst their banks.
The flooding is affecting two housing estates in the town, with Laois County Council advising that "extreme caution" be taken in the Mountmellick area.

Many parts of the country experienced heavy rain yesterday, leading to major delays on roads like the N3 and M4.
But the flooding didn't manage to dampen spirits in some corners of Mountmellick.
Dowlings pub on O'Moore Street kept its doors open despite having several inches of water on the floor.
