47-year-old Stephen Marron died following the incident in Castleblayney, while a Garda was injured

A woman who helped a Garda injured in a fatal two-car crash in Castleblayney, Co Monaghan has come forward.

She's now helping investigators with their inquiries into the incident on Tuesday night, which left 47-year-old Stephen Marron dead.

Garda Michael Devlin was injured after being dragged along the road by one of the cars involved.

Both the Gardai and GSOC are investigating.

A 34-year-old man arrested at the scene is still being detained at Carrickmacross Garda Station.

Meanwhile, a renewed appeal has also been made for any witnesses to come forward.

Gardaí are looking to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Castleblayney between 11:15pm and 11:45pm on Tuesday night, November 27th.
