A murder investigation has been launched in Dublin after the death of a man in his 40s on Friday.

Ioan Artene Bob was found in Sean Walsh Park in Tallaght with serious injuries just after 8 o'clock yesterday morning.

The 49 year old, who is a native of Romania, was last seen at half past eight on Thursday evening leaving the city centre.

Superintendent Ian Lackey is leading the investigation and said the Romanian national had been working recently on a construction site in Carrickmines.

Detectives want to speak to anyone who may have information or who may have seen the 49 year old as he travelled to Tallaght on public transport.

They're also appealing for anyone who may have been in Sean Walsh Park on Friday morning to contact them.

The murder investigation was launched after a post-mortem examination carried out by the Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster.

Gardaí investigating his death are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Tallaght Garda Station.
