Sinn Féin Suspends TD Over Abortion Vote
Sinn Féin has suspended Offaly TD Carol Nolan from the party for 3 months.
It's after she voted against the abortion referendum bill in the Dáil earlier.
The pro-life TD told last night's debate she was totally opposed to the removal of the 8th amendment.
Sinn Féin Leader Mary Lou McDonald said she regretted having to impose the punishment on the pro-life TD: "Carol holds strong, personal convictions on this matter. At all stages, the party has acknowledged and respected her views and her right to articulate those views. However, Sinn Féin elected representatives are expected to respect policy decisions taken by the Ard Fheis and to vote in line with party policy."
