What is happening...

It emerged yesterday that house prices are continuing to rise across the country.

A new report from MyHome.ie shows that nationally, prices for newly-listed properties are up 9.5% over the past year, with increases of 8% in the capital.

With house prices continuing to soar, cash-strapped first time buyers are finding it difficult to save while also forking out huge rent payments each month.

While at the same time rental properties, especially in Dublin, are scarce, which inevitably leads to the listing of some pretty questionable dwellings on Daft.

Take this shed, in Swords Co. Dublin, for example.

It costs an eye-watering €765 per month to rent and it has been described as a 'cosy wooden chalet' online.

That's a bit of a stretch lads....
