One meal at a time
While most of us were just trying to make it through the day during lockdown, one Offaly family used their extra free time to think of ways they could help others.
Brothers and sister Joe (14), Peter and Karen (11) Hughes set out to make the world a better place, and came up with a simple but effective way of doing it.
Around this time of year thousands of families around Ireland are usually picking out a gift to send their teacher to thank them for all they do.
That's where presentformyteacher.com comes in. Joe, Peter and Karen started the website, which enables people to gift a life-changing meal to some of the world's poorest children in places of education every day.
You simply log on to presentformyteacher.com and show your teacher how much you care by making a donation in their name.
Just €18.30 will feed a child for an entire school year.
Children are at the heart of Mary's Meals. It was the words of a child that first inspired this movement in 2002. Meet the inspirational Irish children behind the idea for Present for my Teacher. pic.twitter.com/AEAtrViBgF

Joe, Peter and Karen partnered with Mary's Meals, who feed a bowl of porridge to 1.2 million children every single day.
According to Joe, Peter and Karen 100 per cent of your donation goes straight to the charity.
