This morning, Sarah text into The Early Breakfast and said she once saw Daniel O'Donnell buying shoes in Dublin. Stop the LIGHTS! (Although, not to brag, but before I began working in Today FM, I once served Colm Meaney toothpaste.I looked up and said "Oh my god it's you!" and he replied, "and it's YOU!". I dined out on that for around 3 years.)

Anyway - turns out, Sarah and myself aren't the only ones who have rubbed shoulders with celebs in the wild - have a read below!

    • Paula I meet Rory McIlroy - he wouldn't even shake my hand!! Emma
    • Hi SweetP. At a birthday party in my brother in laws, and he tells me his friend Sinead O'Connor is dropping around! However, as I was the non-drinker, they'd sent me for supplies and while I was gone, she called - lucky for me she agreed to wait until I got back - and I was met with a hug and kiss - Martin -Martin, how lucky you are. Once, I queued for a pic with Sinead O'Connor and when I got to the top of the queue - my turn next - she turned around and said, and I quote, "nah, sorry, I need a piss"...and she walked off!
    • Hi Paula, was in Tribeca Hotel New York after my sister’s wedding and Russell Brand and Katy Perry were sitting beside us in lounge. I pretended I didn't know them. I even ended up in the lift with just the both of them and I still pretended I didn't know them. Such an Irish thing to do but I kinda regret not getting a selfie with them. Niall. - never give them the satisfaction!
    • Met Paul O'Connell in a bar in Limerick. He was with his friends and still had no problem posing for a pic with annoying people like me. Legend!!!
    • I met Phillip Schofield who, because I was nervous, I inadvertently accused of being an alcoholic. Thankfully he saw the funny side. He genuinely is the nicest man on TV!
  • I had to make a delivery to Marilyn Manson’s dressing room. The instructions were: "leave it on the step, knock, and leave” - he doesn't like people.
  • Hi Paula, I spent a summer in Nantucket and lots of celebs passed through. Uma Thurman walked into the place I worked. I was like Mrs Doyle asking her did she want a cup of tea. It was Barry's so I felt she needed it. - wait, they have Barry's tea in Nantucket?!
  • Hi Paula, my wife (fiancée at the time) and I met Nancy Griffith after her concert in Cork. We asked her to play at our wedding but she said she was too depressing! Pa in Limerick
  • Met Conor McGregor in Topaz in Dublin Airport. Sound man! Derek - was he looking as silly as he was in Aintree last week?
  • I met Robbie Williams in town and Dawn French took a photo of myself and Robbie! They were together, couldn't have met nicer people. Proper nice. James Mooney
  • Hi, met Ian McShane years ago. He was shooting a scene for Lovejoy in my home village of Emo in Laois. He took a picture with everyone in our local pub. Mick
  • Paula, I worked in the Baggot Inn back in the early 90s, when it was a live music venue. There used to be big Irish bands playing there every week, like the Frames, Aslan, Something Happens etc. Then there were secret gigs, U2, David Bowie to name but two. However, I did go on the lash with Kiefer Sutherland one night. He was quite dull. Larry from Waterford.
  • Back in my butchering days I served Steve Collins! In case ya don’t know who he is, he's the former heavyweight boxer! He beat Eubank back in the day! Dave
  • Hey Paula, I once met Tiger Woods, well I say met, he said Hello, how’s it going and I think I managed a squeak back. Duncan
  • I met Van Morrison on Newcastle beach in disguise. He was the only man on the beach on a sunny day wearing a coat, hat and scarf. Mark Co Armagh
  • Hi, met Jimmy Eat World on the way to Witness years ago. Nobody on the Dublin bus knew who they were. They were running late for their set and just hanging out on the side of the road. I phoned my twin sister and got them to say hello to her! Laura in Galway
  • Met Liam Gallagher after stalking him in the 4 seasons about 4 years ago – dead sound and no problem getting pics with us!
  • Good morning Paula. The first celebrity I met was Ryan Tubridy in a petrol station in Carlow. I pointed at the roof of his car to tell him his coffee was on the roof  and he just waved back. Then he drove out, braked and guess where the coffee went! - once, I drove the Today FM jeep down to Cork and the whole way down people were beeping so I waved at everyone back. Got the whole way to Cork and realised they were trying to tell me the bonnet was open.
  • We met Kate Hudson while on the maid of the mist trip at Niagara Falls. We chatted with her and her kids – she was was so down to earth and nice.

And my favourite -

  • Met Gerry Adams coming out of Lidl with a pot plant before Christmas. Phil
