Today is World Book Day, and the listeners of The Early Breakfast were more than happy to share their recommendations of great books they’ve read. Below you’ll find all the suggestions – and thank you to everyone who text and tweeted their favourite reads!

My own personal favourites are the following:

Kane and Abel, by Jeffrey Archer. This is an oldie but just a brilliant read – I re-read it recently and it was just as good as the first time. Utter brilliance.

The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. An absolutely wonderful read and as an added boost, this amazing story was made into a 4-part TV series, which was fantastic.

You by Caroline Kepnes. Creepy creepy creepy – and brilliant. (She has also written a second book called Hidden Bodies which I am saving for my holliers!)

Any Peter James or Harlen Coben books – really intriguing and engaging crime writers.

Here’s what the listeners love – go forth and get stuck in!

Scar Tissue, the Anthony Kiedis autobiography! Brilliant read. Adrian in Monaghan

The Earth Children series by Jean M Auel starting with The Clan of the Cave Bear. You will want to start the next book as soon as you've finished one

Hi Paula, The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood. Amazing book, Sue

Good morning Paula! The Little Prince, a children's book every adult should read. Sofia, Dublin

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo...unbelievable. Don't read much. Couldn't put that down.

Boys in the Trees, the Carly Simons memoir. Great read. Aisling in Mayo

The Light Between Oceans, The Secret Life of Bees, Dracula, All of the Anne of Green Gables series.
So hard to pick just one! Toni, Donegal

Good morning Paula! Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll is such a page turner- it's a perfect holiday read. Clare D7

The Book Thief by Marcus zuzack is brilliant. Also The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry and who could forget The Godfather! Sabrina

Good morning Paula. The Mezzanine by Nicholson Baker, which is one of the finest works in the English language. Cyril

Paula if you like crime novels you gotta try Don Winslow....Glenn

If you like Game of Thrones, you'll love the First Law Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie

Greetings from Vienna!
My favourite book is The Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela
Great show this morning. Noel

Hey Paula, like Kim I absolutely adore the Harry Potter series! One of the best books I've ever read is Robert Pirsig called Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. At  the moment I'm reading Siobhan Davis’ Saven serie. Another amazing author is Carmel Harrington particularly loved her most recent one The Things I Should Have Told You. Happy World Book Day! LaineyMoo

If you enjoyed Kane and Abel you will love Clifton Chronicles by Jeffery Archer

Paula, Carly Simon's autobiography Boys in the Trees is a must read. Beautifully written, a real page turner. Kev in Wicklow

Paula, The Reason I Jump is the greatest book I've ever read. It was written by a 13 year old Japanese boy with autism. It's a must read for any parent or family member of a child with autism. It’s a short book and a very easy read. Niall, Cavan

Morning Paula....would never have been a Roy Keane fan before I read his book The Second Half ghost written with Roddy Doyle. It is so honest, funny, self-deprecating and as accurate an appraisal of the soccer game as you will come across. A must read. Sean in Tralee

Fatherland is a must read, terrific book. Robert Harris is the author. Andy

I love The Famous Five books. I’m reading them to my kids at present. Loved those books as a kid myself! Regards Gareth. ....We are famous five...lol

Good morning. If anyone likes a good crime novel try any of the Maeve Kerrigan novels by NY Irish writer Jane Casey. Her 6th is out any day now and I'm impatiently waiting to get my paws on them. Anne in galway

Steven Erickson. Malazan Book of the Fallen series. Starts with Gardens of the moon. Bloody epic.

Morning Sweet P
Best books for me...
To Kill A Mockingbird
Tuesdays With Morrie (this would bring a tear to a glass eye)
Loving the show, brilliant as always Young Missy! Shay
