If you think its brass monkeys outside lads spare a thought for anyone living in Chicago.
The midwest of the US is experiencing dangerously cold weather thanks to a Polar Vortex sweeping in some extreme Arctic air and wind chills of more than -50°C That is like something out of the Arctic. Penguins would be delighted with a weekend break in the 'Ice Windy City'
And it is so bitter that people have even been warned to stop talking!
The National Weather Service is warning people in the city to cover their mouths and ‘to protect your lungs from severely cold air please avoid taking deep breaths and minimize talking’.
Much of the Chicago River has frozen over and tips for keeping warm include wearing rubber gloves, avoiding wearing denim and keeping on the move if you are outside.

Dangerously cold weekend weather will be followed by a storm that could leave more than 6 inches of snow on the ground before an arctic blast brings a three-day stretch "of potentially life-threatening cold" to the Chicago area.
