For this week's Friday interview Matt speaks to Eugene McGee about his new book 'The GAA In My Time.'

Regarded as Ireland’s foremost GAA analyst, Eugene discusses his football triumphs with UCD, Offaly and Ireland.

Although he never played the game to a high level he studied it intently and focused on coaching and traning.

"In those days you were a 'trainer' - now it is 'manager' and given the amount of work involved, it is a far better title."

He also speaks openly about the personal loss he suffered.

He talks about the tragic death of his sister Alice who was killed by a falling grantie block as the roof collapsed on her home as she searched for her keys at the front door.

Nine years later, his elder brother Fr Phil died of a heart attack aged only 47.

Eugene says he was a "very influential figure in his love of GAA".
