The Stunning interview, plus spine-tingling performance of David Bowie's 'Kooks':

The Stunning play 'Half Past Two' and reveal all about their new material!

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been 28 years since Galway gave birth to The Stunning. In the 7 years that The Stunning were initially together, they were one of the most successful Irish bands ever. Their debut album ‘Paradise In The Picturehouse’ (1990) spent 5 weeks at number 1 and became one of the best-loved Irish albums of all time. It’s still as fresh today as it was then.

With singles like"Got To Get Away", "Half Past Two", "Romeo's On Fire", "Brewing Up a Storm", "Heads (Are Gonna Roll)", "Everything That Rises" Joe Wall, Steve Wall, Derek Murray, Jim Higgins, Cormac Dunne were household names.

The Stunning surprisingly split in 1994, but their popularity has never waned. Joe and Steve went on to form the brilliant band The Walls who released 3 acclaimed albums between 2000 and 2012.

In the middle of all that, The Stunning reformed and since 2003 the band have made regular live appearances but now, as they reveal to Neil Delamere on the Anton Savage Show, they are back in the studio and working on their first new material since 1993!

The newest member of The Stunning: Neil Delamere!

They are playing Tradfest on January 30th and just as we went on air the gig was announced as being sold out!

They joined Neil to pay tribute to David Bowie with their take on his ‘Hunky Dory’ album track ‘Kooks’ which was so good, one listener texted in to say he thinks his wife became pregnant listening to Joe and Steve play it!

They also played perennial Stunning favourite ‘Half Past Two’.

Neil also spoke to Joe about him being one of the few people to have had a Saw Doctors song named after him!  ‘Joe Wall Broke My Heart’ was written by The Saw Doctors in honour of Joe, who when they lived, worked and palled around together in Galway in the 1980’s, got all the attention whilst the lads were left looking into their glasses.

Neil also spoke to Steve about his role in the 1916 TV series ‘Rebellion’. Steve fears he could become the most hated man in Ireland due to his role as a G-Man, Detective Colman, in hit drama.

An accomplished actor, Steve has also starred in “Silent Witness”, “Vikings” , “Klondike”, “Crossing Lines” “Moone Boy”, “Dark Touch”, “Ghost Train” and “Anywhere But Here”.
