1,224 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Ireland today.

It brings the five-day moving average of new cases to 1,334 - slightly up on yesterday, but down from 1,454 a week ago.

As of this morning, there were 278 patients in Irish hospitals with COVID-19 - up from 261 yesterday.

The number of patients in ICU has dropped from 66 to 63 over the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Ireland has hit another vaccine milestone, with over 90% of all over 16s now fully vaccinated.

HSE CEO Paul Reid says it’s the highest uptake in the EU, describing young people’s efforts as “truly remarkable & inspirational”.
