A Ukrainian passenger plane has crashed just after taking off from Iran's main airport - killing everyone on board.

Iranian state media says 176 people were on the Boeing 737 - which came down because of technical problems.

State-run news agency IRNA reported that the pilot lost control when a fire broke out in one of its engines.

An investigation team is at the site of the crash in the southwestern outskirts of Tehran according to a civil aviation spokesman.

Ukraine said its embassy in Tehran is trying to clarify the circumstances around the crash and its president, Volodymyr Zelensky, offered his condolences to the relatives of those killed.
