A 33-year-old man has died in hospital overnight after being injured when he and a young girl were hit by a car in Ballina, Co Mayo.
The collision happened on Lord Edward St. in Ballina at around 6.25pm on Tuesday evening.
The child, who was also injured, has since been discharged from hospital.
The local Coroner has been informed of the man's death, and a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with video or dash-cam footage of the road at the time, to contact them at Ballina Garda Station.
The man's death brings to 33 the number of people who've been killed on the country's roads so far this year.
