While PNA nurses stage overtime ban

GP services are in many parts of the country are set to be affected by a national protest by family doctors in Dublin today.

The National Association of General Practitioners says primary health care is in crisis due to government cuts.

Up to 500 doctors are set to protest outside the Dail this afternoon.

The NAGP says there's a recruitment crisis for doctors, with around half of all new GP graduates leaving the country to work abroad.

It comes as INMO nurses are in the final hours of their second 24 hour strike.

Up to 50,000 medical appointments were cancelled yesterday.

The HSE and nursing unions will meet later today to discuss the impact of the next strike tomorrow.

Meanwhile, psychiatric nurses are staging an overtime ban today in a row over pay and staff shortages.

Child and adolescent mental health services will be exempt from the industrial action.
