70% Of Girls Now Getting HPV Vaccine

7 in 10 girls are now getting the HPV vaccine.

That means in just over 2 years the uptake rate has risen by 20%.

The HSE says the increase in girls getting the jab - which protects against cervical cancer - is "extremely encouraging".

Vaccination teams will be going into secondary schools across the country this week so girls can get the second dose.

The Minister for Health has welcomed today's news.

Simon Harris tweeted to say:

We are making real progress with uptake rates for HPV vaccine. This will save lives!
