Aer Lingus shareholders have voted narrowly to go ahead with a 700 thousand euro increase to the pay and pension package of its Chief Executive.
The deal was approved by a margin of 50-point-0-3 per cent at the airline's AGM at Dublin Airport this afternoon.
The government indicated it would use its 25.1 per cent stake in the airline to vote against the deal for Christoph Mueller.
