The Director-General of the BBC is insisting his journalists 'acted appropriately' in their coverage of a police raid on Cliff Richard's flat - in connection with historical sex offence allegations.
The British broadcaster broke news of the search at the singers flat in Berkshire, and reportedly had a film crew on the scene before officers arrived.
BBC boss Tony Hall says the media has a right to report on matters of public interest.
The singer denies the claims.
