Sisters of the late Bernadette Forde are giving evidence at the assisted suicide trial of her friend and carer Gail O'Rorke.

The taxi driver from Kilclare Gardens, Tallaght denies helping the 51 year old MS sufferer to die in 2011.

In 2011 Bernadette Forde took her own life with an overdose of the drug pentobarbital after it was ordered online from Mexico.

The trial heard the drug is used in capital punishment in America and for euthanasia where it is legal.

The jury also heard evidence that the 51 year old who had multiple sclerosis told her sister Catherine in 2010 that she wanted to travel to Dignitas in Switzerland to end her life.

Another sister Beatrice said when she saw a front page story in the Daily Mail about a woman from Donnybrook and her carer being stopped on their way to Dignitas , she wondered if it was Bernadette.

She said it was not something they ever discussed.
