Gardai are still trying to identify the man who was found dead in a burning car in Dublin last night.

A murder investigation is expected to be launched following the discovery in Lucan.

Emergency services were called to Mount Andrew Court at around 8pm last night to deal with a navy Toyota Corolla engulfed in flames.

When the fire was put out, a man's body was found.

Investigators want anyone with information about the car's movements since last Wednesday to come forward.

The 05-CW-2225 was sold on November 11th.

A post-mortem is due to take place this afternoon on the victim, who may have been shot before the car was set alight.

Gardaí are also appealing for anyone who may have information, including any road users who travelled in the area last night to contact them.
