Calendars containing alcohol, like prosecco and craft beer, have grown in popularity in recent years and the charity says it reinforces the message that alcohol and Christmas go hand in hand.
Alcohol Action Ireland's Eunan McKinney says 'There's room to consider that they should be banned because inherently they're of a danger to a child if they get access to the alcohol products within them and it also reinforces the connection between alcohol and Christmas and that's not a healthy situation'.
88 deaths a month in Ireland are directly linked to alcohol, while €7.3 billion was spent by Irish households on alcohol in 2017.
