Cork Airport Staff Redeployed To Dublin Airport To Help Tackle Queues

Redeploying security staff from Cork Airport to Dublin Airport forms part of a 5-point plan to tackle delays ahead of Easter.

The DAA says it's recruited 100 people and that it's invited 250 more for interviews this week as it tries to manage long queues at the airport.

Footage from inside the airport in recent weeks showed queues for security stretch across the facility, with reports of some missing their flight as a result of delays.

Trained security staff in new roles will be transferred back to screening duties while there will also be a targeted communications campaign to advise passengers to arrive early.

Meanwhile the government says it isn't in favour of sending in the army to help out, after calls from Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary.
