13,765 more cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Ireland today, another new daily record.

The number of patients in hospital now stands at 378, while the number in ICU is currently 87.

People are being advised to stay safe over the Christmas period, amid rising cases in recent days.

Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said: “If you have even mild symptoms of a cold or flu then isolate & stay away from others.

“If someone in your household has a positive antigen or PCR test, everyone should restrict movements - do not meet up with others.”

PCR testing is continuing across the Christmas period, with many centres open today and tomorrow.
