Former CEO of Anglo Irish Bank David Drumm has been granted bail.

He was charged with over 30 criminal offences this morning following his extradition from the US.

The State had strongly objected to bail, but Judge Michael Walsh decided the argument that he’s a flight-risk “doesn’t hold up”.

The District Court had earlier been told that 7 members of his family are willing to put their homes on the line to secure his bail.

Drumm is charged with 33 offences arising from his final years as head of Anglo Irish Bank.

The majority of them deal with alleged unlawful loans to the family of businessman Sean Quinn and a group of former customers known as the Maple Ten. The remaining charges relate to alleged transactions worth over €7bn with Irish life & Permanent.

Drumm arrived into Dublin this morning on a flight from Boston in the US, after waiving his right to challenge his extradition.
